I’m honoured to tell you that I’ve been made the SFRA representative for Australia.
The Science Fiction Research Association is “the oldest professional association dedicated to the scholarly inquiry of science fiction and the fantastic across all media.” You can find out more about them here: SFRA.org
If you are in Australia and will be organising / hosting a science fiction research related event, or general science fiction event, or have recently traditionally published a print science fiction work in Australia available in bookshops, please feel free to comment below about it. This post will be pinned for ongoing comments. It is my responsibility to be updated on anything science fiction related happening in Australia and advise the SFRA about it every month or so, so it would be great to help you publicise your Australian science fiction event or work to a wider audience. Of course, SFRA has final say on what they report on.
I have information about these organisations and events already:
ASFF: Australian Science Fiction Foundation
NSW Writer’s Centre Speculative Fiction Festival (past link for 2023 for illustration purposes)
The Melbourne Science Fiction Club (3rd Friday almost every month)
The Melbourne Sci-Fi & Fantasy Meetup Group
Perth Science Fiction and Fantasy Fans
Looking forward to hearing about yours!
